Muzaffarnagar Riots : Political Scenario thereafter

Muzaffarnagar Riots : Political Scenario thereafter

No denying the fact - Uttar Pradesh is a politically volatile state and it is also a state where religion and caste factors play a major role in determining the outcome of any elections.
If we go by media reports story started in the village Kawal. where two Jat brothers killed a Muslim boy who was teasing their sister. Later, they were lynched to death and an incident which was probably that of crime took the shape of a full-blown communal violence.
It doesn’t look as simple as it is.Till investigations are completed Question always remain. Was this all done in a moment of heat or there was a motivation behind all this. It may be a Community decision or may be politically motivated. But let’s not get into it.

Political Scenario thereafter :

Predictably, the blame game started. The ruling Samajwadi Party is being accused of not paying attention to the alerts by the Centre that riots could take place. It is also blamed by some leaders that the SP and the BJP were hand-in-gloves and were trying to vitiate the atmosphere in the state. If true , Question arises Why?? It is believed that communal tension between Hindu and Muslims in UP may polarize hindu votes in favor of BJP , which fared badly in last general elections in 2009. The same is believed in case of SP as far as Muslim Votes are concerned.
But, we must not forget that it’s the not 90’s its year 2013. Voter these days has become quiet educated as far as elections are concerned. They know what all such riots leads to. Moreover , Media today is quiet active and fast.
After this riot it was said Jat voters in majority will move towards BJP. But we mustn’t forget Jats are traditional farmers. What matters to them is policies related to their farming which is their bread and butter. RLD chief Ajit Singh , though not a big political force , but the biggest Jat leader in western UP is still a force to reckon. His son , Jayant Choudhary carries with himself image of a clean leader, So politically , there is not much of gain for anybody as far as Jat votes are concerned.
Coming to Muslims it is clearly speculated that SP is the biggest loser in this area. Moreover , Considering Modi factor and presence of Amit Shah , former Home Minister Gujarat , in UP can lead Muslims towards Congress .But the biggest gainer from all this in UP must be BSP as number of riots during BSP was lesser than since 2012.

Different ways of winning Hearts and People :

It is irony in our country that whenever there are communal riots we start talking of votes polarization. This and that party will be benefitted from all this etc.
Lets take an example of Bhatta-Parsaul (GautamBudh Nagar) agitation à This agitation was done by farmers not by any community or religion. This agitation led to the birth of the Famous Land Acquisition Bill. Movement started by Rahul Gandhi and carried forward by Dhirendra Singh , now spokesperson , UPCC. They led farmers to fight for their rights and ultimately bill was passed . Farmers in GB Nagar includes all communities like Muslims , Thakurs , Jats etc. But Ultimately a farmer won. So we must not forget fighting for right cause will ultimately give you glory rather than instigating Riots.
